I’ve never cared for large displays at the helm and since we were already using a PC at the Nav station for electronic charting I purchased and installed a Nobeltec Insight Radar. The Radar data is over laid on our electronic charts at the Nav Station.
The system consists of a software feature pack that is installed with the Nobeltec Visual Nav Suite, a radar scanner (Radome) and a bidirectional data interface.
I chose a small 17″ 2kw system and installed it low on the mast on a Kato Radar mount.
After selling Grai’nne the new owner purchased a small Garmin GPSMAP 742 plotter and I installed a new Radar unit.
